What is the Affordable Refund IVF Program?

The Affordable Refund IVF program allows qualifying couples an opportunity to receive money back if they are unsuccessful with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

Who qualifies for the Standard Affordable Refund program?*

Qualifying couples include:

• Female partner age 37 or younger at the time of the proposed first egg retrieval
• Female partner with no more than 1 prior IVF cycle "start" ( A "start" is defined as beginning medications with the intent of doing IVF)
• Male and female partner that do not smoke nor use any drugs

*Please note: Final determination for inclusion in the program will be made by Affordable IVF medical staff.  Some underlying medical conditions may not permit inclusion in the program.

Who qualifies for the Expanded Affordable Refund program?

This program is for women age 38 who have never done IVF.  It is also offered to women age 37 and under who have had two prior failed IVF cycles but who would otherwise qualify for refund IVF.  Delivery rates in these two groups are lower than in women who qualify for standard Refund IVF but the rates are still good.  What is included and excluded is the same as the standard Refund IVF program.

What is INCLUDED in the programs?

The following items are included in the programs for up to three fresh cycles, as well as frozen transfer cycles for any/all frozen embryos:

• Ovulation induction monitoring (hormonal testing, ultrasound monitoring)
• Facility and surgeon fees for egg retrieval and embryo transfer
• Anesthetic supplies/drugs
• All medical and surgical supplies required for egg retrieval and embryo transfer
• IVF lab services including identification of eggs, semen processing, fertilization of eggs (including ICSI as needed), assisted hatching, embryo freezing, embryo culture including blastocyst culture, frozen embryo storage while in active treatment.
• Verification of pregnancy up to and including ultrasound verification of fetal number, position, and heart beat if done in Affordable IVF facility.

What is EXCLUDED from the program?

The following items will not be included in the contract fee for the program:

• Medication costs (except anesthetic, as listed above)
• All laboratory studies, evaluations, and surgery required to prepare the female for the start of IVF.
• All care by physicians not affiliated with Affordable IVF
• Professional fee for anesthesia for egg retrieval procedure
• Monthly embryo and sperm storage fee (if any embryos remain) once pregnancy reaches 7 weeks.  Please note:  for tracking purposes, all pregnant patients will be required to maintain any remaining frozen embryos until such time as the contract is complete (i.e., patient has baby reaching one month of age from date of delivery).
• Any complications related to IVF process

How does the program work?

In the standard program the couple pays a contract fee of $15,300 if the female partner is under 35 years of age or a fee of $17,000 if the female partner is 35 to 37 years of age.  A portion of this fee is a non-refundable deductible, which will be retained by Affordable IVF regardless of the outcome.  The remainder of the contract fee (total minus the non-refundable deductible) represents the refundable portion should the couple be unsuccessful after all available attempts (i.e., do not have a viable infant reaching 30 days of age after the delivery date).  The refundable amounts are listed in the table below.

For the Expanded Program, the fee is $21,300 with the same 30% deductible making the refundable portion $14,910.
